LUFKIN, TX. A FAR CRY Chamber Orchestra performs a program of classical music that will forever alter your perception of the word “orchestra”. Leading the way for a new generation of young fearless musicians, they test the traditional boundaries of classical music. These 15 bold musicians hail from the finest schools of music and conservatories including the New England Conservatory, Peabody Conservatory, and Juilliard. You will not only hear the music – but you will see the energy, the fire, and the emotion these young musicians bring to the stage. The Criers as they call themselves will treat theatergoers to a Pre-Show Talk starting at 6:30 in the art gallery of the Temple Theater, as well as meet, greet and sign CD’s after the show.

Angelina Arts Alliance presents this classical string ensemble Saturday, September 22nd at 7:30 pm in the Temple Theater. Tickets are $31-$40 (Premium/$50). A FAR CRY is sponsored by KTRE-ABC 9, J.E. Kingham Construction Company, and Lee TranServices, Inc. Season Sponsors are Memorial Health System of East Texas and Brookshire Brothers Food & Pharmacy.

When asked about their upcoming trip to Lufkin, violinist Jesse Irons stated, “We are so excited to be returning to Texas, which feels like a second home to us. We perform across the country, but Texas is special – there are actually native Texans in the group, so we always love performing there! We’re looking forward to getting to know Lufkin.”

Today, the Criers call Boston home, which is where they developed their innovative structure of rotating leadership both on stage and behind the scenes. This groundbreaking string orchestra has been embraced throughout the world with a European debut tour in 2012 plus recent and upcoming collaborations with Yo-Yo Ma, cellist Matt Haimovitz, and guitarist Jason Vieaux, just to name a few. Expect to hear works by Brahms, Vivaldi, Bartók, and William Walton – performed with an irrepressible energy and exuberance that is sure to bring a smile.
