LUFKIN, TX. Looking for something fun to do for Mother’s Day? Don’t miss THE TEXAS GYPSIES performing live outdoors in the final act of our 2022 Sights & Sounds FREE Concert Series! The performance will take place on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at 2 pm.

For 17 years, the award-winning recipe for the Texas Gypsies’ sound is to perform the “Vintage Jazzy Swingin’” cool hep cat sounds of the Great Gatsby era 1920s, plus a mix of the Big Band Swing sound of the 1930’s and ’40s, add in a taste of its sister sound, Western Swing, sprinkle some Django style Gypsy Jazz over the top and finally finish up with a pinch of Retro Deco Rock and Roll! The band mixes passionate violin, a blazing horn section, rockin’-swingin’ guitars, slappin’ upright bass, and retro style drumming to harmoniously create their own unique, classy, and fun sound that has taken their show all over the world! The band’s members have performed with many artists including, The Jacksons, Ella Fitzgerald, Paul McCartney, Wynton Marsalis, The Ink Spots, and many more!

Patrons are encouraged to bring their own lawn chairs or a picnic blanket and join this Mother’s Day on the plaza between the Museum of East Texas and the Civic Center in downtown Lufkin. Complimentary refreshments will be provided and there will be plenty of room to dance with your loved ones!
