ANGELINA ARTS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES SUMMER FUN SATURDAYS

Exciting events happening at the Pines Theater and around the community this summer!

LUFKIN, TX (April 1, 2022): Angelina Arts Alliance is thrilled to announce a summer schedule of entertainment for families to enjoy from classic kids’ movies to live performances, there’s something for everyone. The lineup starts on June 4 with the screening of Shrek and wraps up on August 20 with a sing-a-long of The Sound of Music. Shrek sparked a motion picture phenomenon and captured the world’s imagination with…the Greatest Fairy Tale Never Told! Shrek (Mike Myers) goes on a quest to rescue the feisty Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz) with the help of his loveable Donkey (Eddie Murphy) and win back the deed to his swamp from scheming Lord Farquaad.

FINDING NEMO

Nemo, an adventurous young clownfish, is unexpectedly taken from his Great Barrier Reef home to a dentist’s office aquarium. It’s up to his worrisome father Marlin and his friendly but forgetful regal blue tang fish Dory to bring Nemo home — meeting vegetarian sharks, surfer dude turtles, hypnotic jellyfish, hungry seagulls, and more along the way.

Hot Peas ‘n Butter is an award-winning, multicultural family music band that wows thousands of young audiences across the nation every year with their highly energetic and interactive musical style. With eight award-winning albums and numerous music videos (some of which have been featured on Nick Jr. and Nickelodeon TV), Hot Peas ‘n Butter makes new friends everywhere they go. Named for the playground game they played as kids, Hot Peas ‘n Butter incorporates many languages into their performances – English, Spanish, French, Korean and Hebrew just to name a few!).

CHALK ART DAY featuring FLY DANCE COMPANY

Join us for a fun day in the park! There’ll be a chalk art contest and a hot dog lunch will be served. And you won’t want to miss a special performance and talk back with FLY Dance Company! Based in Houston, FLY Dance Company educates students on the benefits of being healthy and active through dance. Audience members learn the positive influences and healthy ingredients of Hip Hop culture; and through audience participation see how a healthy and active lifestyle can be enjoyable, inspiring, and life changing. Don’t miss out on the chemistry, lyricism, and musicality of this theatrical dance performance!

HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCERER’S STONE

Harry Potter has no idea how famous he is. That’s because he’s being raised by his miserable aunt and uncle who are terrified Harry will learn that he’s really a wizard, just as his parents were. But everything changes when Harry is summoned to attend an infamous school for wizards, and he begins to discover some clues about his illustrious birthright. From the surprising way he is greeted by a lovable giant, to the unique curriculum and colorful faculty at his unusual school, Harry finds himself drawn deep inside a mystical world he never knew existed and closer to his own noble destiny.

In this true-life story, Julie Andrews lights up the screen as Maria, a spirited young Austrian woman who leaves the convent to become a governess for Captain von Trapp’s (Christopher Plummer) seven unruly children. Her charm and songs soon win the hearts of the children – and their father. But when Nazi Germany unites with Austria, Maria is forced to attempt a daring escape with her new family.
