Angelina Arts Alliance News Release - October 25, 2010

Contact: Tracy Pinkerton, Associate Director - (936) 633-4504

He looks and acts like Marlon Brando and he sings like Mario Lanza.  It’s Franc D’Ambrosio, the world’s longest running “Phantom” in Phantom of the Opera, and he’s bringing his one-man show to the Temple Theater stage Monday, November 22nd at 7:30pm. Tickets ($22-$30) are now on sale at the Temple Theater box office weekdays noon-5:30, or you may purchase tickets by phone at 936-633-5454.  The Temple Theater is located on the Angelina College campus in Lufkin. Franc D’Ambrosio’s Broadway is sponsored by A Friend of the Arts, Loving Toyota * Scion and Loving Lincoln * Mercury.  Tenth Anniversary Season Sponsor is Temple-Inland.

For more than six years, Franc D’Ambrosio brought over 5 million theater goers to their feet in the infamous lead role of the “Phantom” in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera. Now the Phantom has been unmasked and is revealed to be a terrifically gifted singer with a range far beyond what he exhibited in the famous Broadway musical. His one-man show, Franc D’Amborsio’s Broadway, weaves heartwarming stories of his youth in the Bronx with marvelous songs from your favorite Broadway shows.  Each song is delivered with infectious energy and the between-number patter feels like a conversation with an old friend. With favorites like “Almost Like Being in Love”, “Give My Regards to Broadway”, and “The Impossible Dream”, D’Ambrosio makes his audience believe he’s just discovered each song and can’t wait to sing it for you. The show will also feature the winners of a local vocal competition, who will sing a duet from “Phantom of The Opera” on stage.  Inevitably, the show’s climax is the medley from “The Phantom”.  Franc sends chills with “Music of The Night”, proving that he could go on playing the Phantom forever. But isn’t it nice to know there’s so much more he can do?

The music chosen, voice of Franc D’Ambrosio, and his performance evoke ell emotions known to man. Truly a concert not to be missed!
