Lufkin, TX- If you are a fan favorite of the music from the 70s, then the live performance of COUNTRY ROADS: The Music of John Denver and Dan Fogelberg, is a must see at 7:30p on Saturday, August 27th at the Temple Theater. In very different ways, these two troubadours epitomized the singer/songwriter movement of the decade that grew out of the folk scene of the previous decades. Denver’s songs are often celebrations of the natural beauty of the Rockies; Fogelberg’s more often tell complex stories of personal relationships. But the sound common to both, based on acoustic guitar and featuring a soaring tenor voice, is the sound of an era that re-discovered the romance of natural America. Popular songs by Denver include, “Sunshine” and “Annie’s Song”. “Longer Than” and “Leader of the Band” are well-known songs written and performed by Fogelberg.
Music director, featured artist, and two-time Tony nominated actor Bob Stillman and his flawless repertory band of first rate New York and Nashville musicians provide audiences with a wonderful journey back in time.
Bob Stillman's personalization and history of both Denver and Fogelberg is extraordinary. Daniel Hart, Executive Director of the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra, noted "this is a first class show of singers and musicians...and our audience responded so strongly!"
Located on the Angelina College Campus in Lufkin, the Temple Theater begins seating at 7:00p. Showtime is 7:30pm. Tickets ($31-$40) are now available.
