Few stories are as timeless -- or reveal the courage and resilience of the human spirit -- as THE MIRACLE WORKER Purchase tickets now to experience the stirring dramatization of the early life of Helen Keller on Tuesday March 4th, 7:30 pm in the Temple Theater on the Angelina College campus. THE MIRACLE WORKER tells the story of young Helen Keller, deaf and blind since infancy, who finds her way into the world of knowledge and understanding with the help of Annie Sullivan, her gifted tutor.  In some of the most turbulent and emotion-packed scenes ever presented on the stage, Helen overcomes rage and confusion to triumph over her physical disabilities. Presented by Angelina Arts Alliance with tickets ranging from $27-$36 (Premium/Box $46), THE MIRACLE WORKER, is sponsored by First Bank & Trust of East Texas. The 2013-14 Season Sponsors are Lufkin Industries, Inc. and Memorial Health System of East Texas.

With this production, Montana Repertory Theatre continues to explore great American plays which penetrate the core of human experience.  One of the oldest and most respected touring companies in the country, Montana Repertory Theatre’s professional ensemble has garnered awards from the worlds of Broadway, national and international tours, film, and television. Lufkin audiences have previously seen the company’s touching productions of To Kill a Mockingbird, Bus Stop, and A Trip to Bountiful.  Each has brought new vitality and vision to these time-honored theater pieces.

THE MIRACLE WORKER was the second Broadway effort by playwright William Gibson, and his most acclaimed work. After earning three Tony awards on Broadway, the 1962 film version received several Oscar nominations and Oscars for its stars Anne Bancroft and Patty Duke. The determination and grit of teacher Annie Sullivan is still a shining example today - - of victory over unbelievable odds -- accomplished through conviction, perseverance, and love.
