It is with great pleasure that Angelina Arts Alliance presents Montana Repertory Theatre’s production of one of America’s best-loved plays, Bus Stop by William Inge. The show comes to the Temple Theater Monday, March 21st at 7:30pm. Tickets ($31-$40) are available beginning February 22nd at the Temple Theater box office, open weekdays noon-5:30, or you may purchase tickets by phone at 936-633-5454. The Temple Theater is located on the Angelina College campus in Lufkin. Bus Stop is sponsored by Brookshire Brothers Food & Pharmacy and Goodwin-Lasiter, Inc / Scott & Strong, Architects. Tenth Anniversary Season Sponsor is Temple-Inland.
For many of us who grew up in the 1950’s, Bus Stop is a classic American story. Marilyn Monroe’s entrance in the film version is imbedded in our consciousness. Now, these characters have become new cultural icons. In this warm and affecting hit comedy, celebrated playwright William Inge examines some of the many faces of love. Extraordinary qualities are revealed in seemingly ordinary people during the course of a hilariously turbulent night in a roadside cafe. Frustration, tears, and laughter result, as characters are forced to confront their own motivations. Romance blossoms, and love banishes loneliness. As Inge demonstrates in this winning tale, a lot can happen in a single night!
Now one of the oldest and most respected professional touring companies in the country, Montana Repertory Theatre was established in 1968. In recent years, they have presented “The Trip to Bountiful” and “To Kill a Mockingbird” at the Temple Theater. The company is absolutely first class…filled with top professional actors from around the country. Bus Stop is a play rich with character and plot and the message that “we’re all in this together”, showing that our lives are truly intertwined: we affect each other in subtle and profound ways as we go about our daily lives.
We know you will find Bus Stop full of insight, tenderness, soulful understanding, great heart, and rollicking, life-affirming humor. One thing’s for sure; you will not leave unchanged.
