LUFKIN, TX. Tickets go on sale February 20 at 11 a.m. at the Temple Theater box office for the 2012 North American Tour of THE PEKING ACROBATS. Hailing from the Peoples Republic of China, this elite group has toured the world, leaving audiences spellbound by the graceful presentation of their ancient folk art, acrobatics. The curtain rises on this thrilling spectacle, presented by the Angelina Arts Alliance, at 7:30 pm Tuesday, March 20. THE PEKING ACROBATS have redefined audience perceptions of Chinese acrobatics. These engaging artists have for decades been diplomats of their spirited culture. The history of Chinese acrobatics is rich in tradition and dates back over 2000 years. The highly trained troupe performs daring maneuvers; they are experts at treacherous feats of daring, and are masters of agility. Defying gravity with amazing displays of contortion, flexibility, and control, these acrobats push the envelope of human possibility with incredible balancing acts, showcasing tremendous skill and ability. Live musicians - playing traditional Chinese instruments - and high-tech special effects blend together on stage to create an exuberant entertainment event.
