Drumline LIVE!, is part of the American experience you won’t believe you’ve been missing, and it’s coming to the Temple Theater stage Thursday, October 21st at 7:30pm. Tickets ($31-$40) are on sale at the Temple Theater box office weekdays noon-5:30, or you may purchase tickets by phone at 936-633-5454. The Temple Theater is located on the Angelina College campus in Lufkin. Drumline LIVE! is sponsored by Memorial Health System of East Texas and the City of Lufkin . Tenth Anniversary Season Sponsor is Temple-Inland.
The tradition began over fifty years ago at Florida A&M University, one of more than 100 Historically Black Colleges and Universities in the United States. These institutions of higher learning were established after the Civil War as places of dignity and hope, where young African Americans would have an opportunity to study and become professionals. And it was in these bastions of higher education that the tradition of show-style marching bands was born. It’s a historic tradition alive with intensity. Drumline LIVE! shows how the tubas, trumpets, clarinets, and an elephant stampede of drummers can create the awesome sound and spectacle of a 300-piece marching band. Add some intricate displays of choreography and marching, hypnotic instrument-twirling, dazzling music-making and breathtaking percussive performances, and you’ve got a recipe for some pulse-pounding entertainment!
This show will make you come alive and excite you from the inside out! Experience Drumline LIVE! at the Temple Theater on Thursday, October 21st and see what’s been bringing audiences world wide to their feet.
