Storyteller, musician, poet, actor, writer and music therapist, David Gonzalez, is a one-of-a-kind artist. He has created numerous productions that combine compelling drama, music, and multi-media, all of which enchant audiences nationwide with stories of love, hope, courage, and wisdom. As two outstanding musicians weave one of Prokofiev's classics with an original jazz-funk score, David performs every role against a backdrop of stunning live video projection and moving images by painter Wassily Kandinsky. This tale is fun for the whole family and a great choice to introduce children to live theater.
David Gonzalez is the proud recipient of the 2011 International Performing Arts for Youth "Lifetime Achievement Award for Sustained Excellence". In 2010 Mr. Gonzalez was named a Joseph Campbell Foundation Fellow, and was nominated for a 2006 Drama Desk Award for "Unique Theatrical Experience" for his production of The Frog Bride at Broadway's New Victory Theater. For a preview, see David Gonzalez at Kiwanis Park during the Cinco de Mayo celebration, on the Gazebo stage on May 5th at 12:30 pm.
The Temple Theater is located on the Angelina College campus in Lufkin. Seating for The Frog Bride is general admission; doors open at 1:45 pm. The show lasts one hour.
