From a land of darkness…comes a tale of light. A scientist, his creation, and their journey. A Glow-In-The-Dark Dinosaur Adventure lights up the Temple Theater for the Angelina Arts Alliance’s first Family Matinee of the season, Saturday, January 22nd, 2011 at 2:30pm. Tickets ($5 kids and -$10 adults) are now available at the Temple Theater box office, open weekdays noon-5:30, or you may purchase tickets by phone at 936-633-5454. The show is recommended for children 7 and older and their families. The Temple Theater is located on the Angelina College campus in Lufkin. A Glow-In-The-Dark Dinosaur Adventure is sponsored by Popeyes. Tenth Anniversary Season Sponsor is Temple-Inland.

A Glow-In-The-Dark Dinosaur Adventure is a technological marvel. The New Orleans- based group created the show shortly after hurricane Katrina had ravaged their city. Creators Corbin Popp and Ian Carney had been working on the technology needed to create the show, but it wasn’t until their friend Stephen flew down to help with the aftermath of the hurricane that the creative juices really started flowing. The show uses Electroluminescent wire, which is mainly used on party hats and store signs, but the creative team has pushed the technology quite far. The process wasn’t easy, taking four years to perfect to its current state. In total, five cast members work in darkness with more than 20 larger-than-life puppets to bring the story to life. Some of the creations are more than 16 feet tall—twice the size of “Sesame Street’s” Big Bird. The result brings crayon-like creatures that light up the stage with neon brilliance, to reveal a surprisingly heart-rending tale—a dinosaur discovers the true meaning of love. Truly unique and visually dazzling, A Glow-In-The-Dark Dinosaur Adventure has been universally praised for its cutting edge blend of puppetry, technology, and dance. The Los Angeles Times says, “It’s a wonderful hour of fantasy that combines ancient, wordless storytelling with modern technology and music.” It’s like nothing you’ve ever seen before.
