Since its beginnings, the orchestra has been an essential thread in the city’s cultural fabric and the very foundation of Fort Worth’s performing arts.

Today, the FWSO is one of the most successful orchestras in the United States, performing an impressive 200 concerts each year for an audience of 250,000 adults and children from all walks of life. Over the last 15 seasons, Music Director Miguel Harth-Bedoya has transformed the FWSO into an ensemble that is recognized and admired the world over for its artistic excellence and commitment to community engagement.

As the principal resident company of the acoustically superb Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall, the orchestra performs a broad range of symphonic and pops concerts. The FWSO is admired nationally for the strength and uniqueness of its collaborations with other organizations including the Fort Worth Opera, Texas Ballet Theater, Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, the Children's Education Program of Bass Performance Hall, and various local professional choruses. The orchestra’s annual summer music festival, Concerts in the Garden, has grown to be one of the largest and most successful summer outdoor festivals of its kind in Texas, attracting an annual audience of 40,000.

On October 26th, the orchestra will be performing their educational program at the Temple Theater, as part of our Schooltime Series, for an audience of 1,800 students.

Barefoot in The Park

Fifty years ago Montana Rep began; just over fifty years ago Barefoot in the Park was produced on Broadway, jumpstarting the career of a true giant in American playwriting, Neil Simon. It seems fitting to honor the play this season that put Neil Simon on the map, and celebrate 50 years with one of the best theatre companies in the country; Montana Repertory Theatre.

Barefoot in the Park , is a comedy of the heart. Paul Bratter is Mister Straight. Corie is his new wife, who dedicates her life to the pursuit of fun. As the ecstasy of the honeymoon gives way to the reality of setting up housekeeping in a five-flight walk-up apartment in Greenwich Village, the harmony of marriage turns to comical discord. The mother-in-law complains alot---The middle-aged neighbor upstairs flirts too much. Joy turns to anguish. But there is little doubt that the young people will kiss and make up in the end, just as there's little doubt that the mother and the neighbor will find each other. This Neil Simon classic was made into a film in 1967 starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda, and like the best romantic comedies, explores love, relationship, family, marriage, the pangs of loss, and the joy of reunion.

When the leading lady breaks her ankle, Peggy takes over and becomes a star. With a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, music by Harry Warren and lyrics by Al Dubin, this sparkling new production will be directed by co-author Mark Bramble and choreographed by Randy Skinner, the team who staged the 2001 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival.
